Caramanico Terme

Caramanico Terme is a beautiful spa town in the Maiella region of Abruzzo.

The therapeutic qualities of the sulphurous waters of Caramanico have been known for centuries. The town also has a lovely old centre of medieval origins. Nearby is the Nature Reserve Valle dell'Orfento, part of the Maiella National Park. It is one of the most spectacular regions of the Apennines: a deep canyon created by the Orfento river, that rises from 500 mt to a breathtaking 2700 meters. The beauty of the landscape and the presence of rare species (wolves and eagles, gentian and peonies) make it a true jewel for people who love nature. A well equipped network of paths cross the whole valley and there is a Visitors' Centre in Caramanico Terme.

Pescara Springs

This is not in Pescara, but near Popoli, situated at the entrance of “Gole dei Tre Monti”, a deep split separating the two Abruzzese Massifs, the Maiella and the Gran Sasso. The river Pescara flows through this split and its springs, not far from the town, are now a natural preserve. The healing waters flow into the “Vecchie Terme” spa, which is open all year long. The waters are used to help arthritis, as well as ear, nose, throat, lung and skin problems.

Raiano Spa

The charming centre of Raiano is a centre for spa-tourism in Abruzzo. Archaeological excavations show that the thermal waters of the La Solfa springs were used during the Roman Age. The new spa facilities at Raiano, opened in summer 1999, allows you to benefit from the sulphur-rich waters with mud baths, massages and immersions.
